CATASTROPHIC LOVE

Catastrophic Love is a project/action resulting from the support of the 29th. Edition of Fomento à Dança da Cidade de São Paulo, which proposes the circulation and deepening of research in contemporary dance with Afro-diasporic foundations based on the works conceived by Luciane Ramos-Silva, with the participation of a group of collaborating artists, Coletividade, and a series of activities to share and engage the population of the city and other parts of the country.

The name of the project comes from the proposition of the Afro-American philosopher Cornell West, who affirms an understanding of love that is different from Western romantic love. It is a love that strengthens, an urgent measure in the face of the brutalities of the world. A "lyrical response to the monster".

The intention was  to deepen artistic research, in its technical and poetic features, to enable the expansion of the field of contemporary dance in the city of São Paulo, pluralizing its aesthetic proposals,_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b- 136bad5cf58d_ as well as sharing with artists and with the city itself, its flows and contradictions.  The Catastrophic Love project was a catalyst for a set of actions structured in this way: the circulation of works In the crevice of certainty the dark red and Brita - Red and invisible places to exist, together with Shared Critical Conversations - Studies for conjuring, Artistic Residency and Open Classes of the continued research Corpo em diaspora, Nucleus training base and a dance video that circulated around the city._cc781905 -5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_
